So am I pretty much screwed?
I know, it was stupid. I got home with Guild Wars at like 3am and decided to install it since I just got into my second wind of the day. So I open it up, pop the cd in, and scratch the key off. Then it tells me to insert CD2. Well, I didn't have CD2. The case was sealed, so it couldn't have fallen out or anything, I just got the game without CD2. I can't bring it back to EB, so what do i do?

You can just download the client from www.guildwars.com and install using that.

You should have returned it. It was a missing disc, they can't exactly say there was nothing they could do.

Likewise, a return shouldnt be a problem if its for the exact same thing. If your really missing the second CD, take it back to electronic boutique anyway and request (or failing that, demand) they take it back and give you another copy. They cant take back a game and give you your money back because of copyright laws, same with an exchange for a diffrent game, but retail will take it back for the same game, especially if its manufacture error. Open the case and show 'em the 2nd cd is missing, tell 'em you got it home and it wasnt in there. Then request (politly) that they exchange it for the same thing.

I'm glad to say I hated MMORPGS, I hated WOW. I've been playing Guild Wars for like 10 minutes, and so far, I love it. Everyone is really helpful. |

try it, you might be suprised, explain you werent aware there was supposed to be a second disc until the game asked for it. I've done this on one occasion with electronics botique, and they took it back for me. Just remember that being calm, patient and explanitive as well as very polite is all you need to get somewhere with most people, especially if your getting screwed. If they start to throw a fit about it ask 'em what your going to do with only half a game, seriously there shouldnt be much trouble, if they give you too much i'd recommend shopping somewhere else for your games, and telling them so. It wont bug them much as employees, but if a manager is present and doesnt do the best he can to help you with your problem then they really dont want your business.

I worked for a *lets leave unamed* retail store. I worked loss prevention and saw on a few occasions where someone bought a DVD, CD, PC or COnsole game and opened it only to findout 1 or all the CD/DVD's were missing. The companies are aware that there can be theft at the distribution centers and/or glitches when stuff is packaged and items are not in the cases or boxes when shipped to the store. You have every right to go back and ask for another copy.

as far as i know thats not a problem, EB accepts returns from other EB stores, so long as you have a receipt.

yeah take it back, i too work in a game store and they can't refuse; its not like they'll be able to sell it again even if you hadn't scratched off the key code. With only one disc they would be forced to return it to head office as faulty stock.

The only snag I see is since the Key is tied to the ACCOUNT, not the disk, if the game was returned with the key scratched off, and he gets a new one, he basically got two games for the price of one by having two keys. They might make him keep the paper with the cd key scratched off, the store keeps the unscratched one and the customer gets new disks.
